CARTERTON NEWS.
(Own Correspondent.) Tuesday. A shoot will be held under the auspices of the Carterton Gun Club on Thursday week for a trophy presented by Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.F. At a meeting of the Belvedere School Committee last evening, a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded those committeemen who so generously metalled the school surroundings, and erected a fence round the school gardens and ploughed them.
Mr C. J. De I.acey was appointed auditor of the recreation account. The headmaster, Mr R. Stout, reported a roll number of 51. The inspector's report wag received and was very encouiaging.
A meeting is to be held here tomorrow evening, to consider the matter of forming .an association football club. A public trial of Mr Norman Daysh's Zealandia milking machine is to be Riven on Mr W. Zabell's farm at Belvedere on Saturday afternoon. At a meeting of Totara Lodge, U.A.0.D., last evening, a card tourney between the married and single members ended in favour or the latter by 17 games to 14. Further contributions from sister lodges were received for the funds to assist a brother in distress. One new member was proposed. At a meeting .of the Rschabite Lodge last evning, one new member was proposed. It was decided to inform the Masterton Council that the Lodge would not be entering any teams in the forthcoming sevenaside football tourney. A circular from the District President in regard to a challenge shield for the Lodge securing "the lergest membership during the year.
