r "A BODY OF HONOURABLE I MEN." Received April 19, 10.35 p.m. LONDON, April 19. Ac the Authors' Club, where he was banquetted, Sir George Reid, Commissioner of Australia, said the Labour Party in Australia was composed of a body of honourable men with patriotic feelings. Although there might be experiments which some regarded with apprehension, it was comforting to know that in the fpast Australia had made a number of daring experiments which the most advanced and enlightened nations of the world had copied. SOCIALISTS AND THEIK DEPOSITS. Received April 20, 12.40 a.m. SYDNEY, April 19. The three New South Wales Socialist candidates for the Senate seem on a fair way to lose their dsposits. Some half a dozen candidates, for the House of Repreaentativese are also considerably short of the requisite number of votes to save their deposits. Counting is slowly proceeding in connection with the Referendum votes in New South Wales, and the "noes" have' now established a growing majority on both the issues involved.
