FOOTBALL.
The first football match of the season took place on the Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon, when a match was played between the Ma - terton juniors and the Red Star juniors. The game was fairly even, and resulted in a draw, no score being registered on either side. Mr R. Spackman had charge of the whistle. It is stated that whereas the Wairarapa Rugby Union started last season with a debit balance, there is a tidy credit balance in hand with which to commence this season's operations. It is also pleasing to note that the variuus football clubs in the Wairarapa had credit balances at the end of last season.
