BURNED TO DEATH.
By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHUKCH, April 10. At a fire which occurred in a fourroomed dwelling in Alexandra street, Richmond,, this morning, t e owner and occupier of the premise;?, D. Buckett, fifty years of age, an old resident and bricklayer and plasterer by trade, was burned to death. Buckett's wife and family are at present away in the North Island, and the neighbours were unaware that a house was occupied and assumed that Buckett was out of town on a shooting expedition. Apparently n-j one observed the fira until the buiidhig was a mass of flaraea. and it was only when the Fire Brigade were ti.e debris after the fire wa3 got under that they came upon Buckett's charred remains.
The Brigade received the alarm irom the i'ek'phone Exchange at 3.15 a.m., but the building was beyond slavtion when they arrive^. The buildii'g ennten's -<e insured in the London and Liverpool and Globe office, but ihd amount is unascertainable.
