ST. JOHN AMBULANCE DISTRICT NURSE FUND.
A meeting of the General Committee of the Bazaar was held in the Dominion Hall last evening, Mr A. Donald, Superintendent, in the chair. The Secretary read the report and balance sheet, which showed f he balance of a a aets over liabilities to be £349 4s lid. Mr A. Donald, in speaking to the report, said that the thanks of Ihe Committee were due to His Worship the Mayor for his suggestion to have a Borough Council stall, and also to those Councillors' wives who had carried the idea out so successfully. The total amount received from the various stalls was £248 Is 4d, and out of this amount the Borough Council stall contributed £122 10s 3d, a very creditable performance. Mr Gerald Branson's services had been secured for the Town Hall competitions, and an amount of £lO had been voted for this purpose, which amount Mr Branson has very generously offered to forego for the good of the object. It was unanimously decided that a hearty vote of tha.iks ba accorded Mr Branson, and also to Mr J. T. M. Hornsby, of Carterton, who came up to judge the competitions, and to the Knox Church Dramatic Company for their assistance. Some discussion took place in respect to two items in the balance sheet, viz., door receipts, Town Hall, £l3 3s, and rent of Town Hall, £3l 15s. The Chairman explained that it was unfortunate that the Town Hall was not better patronised, but that the Trust Lands Trustees had given a donation of £5 Ss, and recommends that no rebate Be asked for-carried. It was unanimously decided that Mr Alex. Donald, and Mr John Hunter ue the two trustees appointed to hold the deposit in the Masterton Permanent Building Society, and that they be instructed to hand over this account to the trustees of the St. John Ambulance District Nursing Guild, when that committee is appointed. Hearty votes of thanks was unanimously accorded to the following for their valuable assistance—His Worship the Mayor and Mrs Hollings, Mrs W. Mansfield, Mrs J. H. Pauling and Mrs Jas. Elliott, the various stall presidents and their assistants, the members of the Masterton Battalion Band, Fire Brigade, Fire Police and Volunteers, Mr J. B. Emmett for auditing the accounts and balancesheet, Mr John Hunter for the'free use of Dominion Hall, a-lsV Wairarapa Age and "Daily Tisfes" new* papers for their generous 7 treatment throughout. The art union' tickets were then.drawn—First prize, No. 2,003, Mrs F. Brown, 39 Albert street; second prize, No. 884; third prize, No 962; Mrs Levien, ticket No. 70, being the winner of the wedding cake. A hearty vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
