A yrung man about 24 years of age, who had come over from Kuniaraftith u i3 brother on a holiday crip for the benefit of his health, devooped symptoms? of mania early this un;rning. He climbed over the iron gate of the hotel, where he was staying, and ran up Manchester street. His mania took a destructive turn and he smashed a window of a fruit :,';op and then shattere") a big plate ylass window of a boot shop. Ho iit-M climbed over a wire shutter into ihe vestibule of another shop, and threw various automatic machines into the street. The constable on beat, with the aid of a couple of civilians, secured him, and put him into a cab. He gave the ccnsfabie a bad time on the way to the peine .station, where he was placed i.. a paddtd cell. As soun as the door was shut; he commenced nn the padding <f the walls, and before he could be got under control had torn down yards of thick leather and heaped the padding on the floor. He ultimately had to be placed in a straight jacket. He then lapsed into a comatose condition, which suggested a serious brain injury of some kind. Later he was removed to Sunr.yside Mental Hospital.
