CARTERTON NEWS.
(Own Correspondent.) Tuesday. Mr C. Bristow, who 'rae been in biirfiresy here as a fruiterer for some years pas*, has relinquished business. The Rev. W. J. Elliott, with Mrs Elliott and family, left here this nvrninc en route for Whangarei. Thev carry with thorn th? well wishes of a large ciivle of friend-'. On account of the departure o' the Rev. W. J. Elliott, Mr J. G. Moore will act as chairman of lha local High School Committee until after the householders' meeting to be held this month. At a meeting of Totara Lodge, U.A.0.D.. last evening, two Brethren were declared on the sick fund. Contributions towards the fund being raised for a brother atjpresent in the Masterton Hospital were received from a number of sister Lodges, the amount now in hand being £34. It was ascertain from the Masterton Friendly Societies' Council what arrangpments were being made in connection with the annual seven a side tournament. Bros. E. McKenzie and J. M. Nichol.ls, were appointed to represent the Lodge thereat. One new member was proposed for initiation.
