CESSATION OF HARTLEPOOL SCHEME.
DEDUCTIONS FROM W^GES. Received April 5, 9.30 a.m.. LONDON, April 4. With regard to the cessation of the Hartlrfpnol co-partnership (by which the men employed at the shipbuilding yards of Furness, Withy and Co. received 9 per cent, upon their money in addition to their wages), Sir Christopher Furness, in response to an appeal, is considering the possibility of continuing the co-partner-ship for another year. He thinks the deduction, the men's wages towards the cost of their shares might be optional in periods of irregular work.

WORKING MEN'S STRENGTH LILS IN UNITY.
Received April 5, 9.50 a.m. LONDON, April 4. Mr W. C. Steadman, ex-Labour M.P., contends that co-partnership weakens the power of bargaining. The working men's strength lies in unity, which the partnership scheme ai ms to destroy.
