TE WHARAU NOTES.
Own Correspondent,
Friday. The Easter Holidays have been considerably spoilt by rough weather. Heavy rain has set in, and we are experiencing a severe southerly storm, which has prevented many people from going away. i Deer stalking is now in full swing, i and several parties have gone out to ■ camp in the hope of securing good i heads. Practically no good heads ' have yet been secured, although the usual number of "Royals," etc., have been seen and not a few magnificent "heads" been wuunded, it being too dusky to tell the exact number of points. Mr Taylor, from the Bank of New Zealand, Featherston, who has been visiting in this district, left last week to take up a position in Te Kuiti on toe Main Trunk line. Mr Edward Welch, of Masterton, arrived on Tuesday to spend a week deerstalking. We have no doubt but that this redoubtable sportsman will secure a few cood heads before his return to Masterton. Mr T. York, of Bank View, has been spending a short holiday in the Hawke's Bay district. Several visitors proceeding to Te Wharau this week by Mr Richards' coach were pleasantly surprised by the novelty of being to pose | for a photo while travelling along. One of the tourists made the remark that he did not expect to meet the "camera fiend" in that part of the country, and thought it rather a sign of progress. " Mr C. Carley, of Dalgety and Co., has been spending his Easter holidays at "Stansboro," and left for town on Tuesday, taking with him a rather good 12 pointer stags head.
