.RACING TURF NOTES. (By "Zetland.") ' ij.brikoff's victories in the Rawson i'Lte and the Autumn Stakes at the .-\ustralian Jockey Club's meeting | pro es the son of Finland to be quite ?s good as his New Zealand admirers consider him. In the first named race he only beat a small field, but in the ir.il ■ and a half event he accountej for some ot Australia's best weight , for age candidates, and the way in which he won and the time recorded, 2min 33aees, with 9st up, went to stio.v that so far he has not been affected by the climate or the different state of the tracks to those in this country. Tne weights for the Wellington meeting, which opens on Wednesday next, will give the sporting public plenty of food for thought. Th<* handicapper, Mr J. H. Pollock, is conversant with plenty of recent form to guide him in making his allotments, and there should be a good response on the part of owners and trainers on acceptance day. The principal events on the first day are the Thompson and Railway Handicap, of one mile and six furlongs respectively. In the fiist nam d there are 45 nominations, and included in the list are most of the Dominion's best milers. Cruclnella, 9st Gibs, is in pride of place, if heading the han- j Gicap may so be termed, and as winner of the Wellington and Feilding Cups, is not harshly dealt with. North East, winner of the last Winter Cup, is in at the same weight, and being exceptionally brilliant, as well as a weight carrier, will have pi ntv of supporters. Gold Lace 9st 41b, may get the distance, Armlet Bst 13Uj, is better at seven furlongs, and Equitas recently put up a good Derformance by running second in the Auckland Easter Handicap. Iranui, Bst 101b, has been given plenty of weight considering the company she has to meet, and Tumut, Bst 81b, is about rightly placed, but has not been showing his brilliancy of late. Sandstream Bst 61b and Effort Bst 41b ae two most capable performers, and on recent form must have undoubted chances, while Salute Bsc 51b, as the warm favourite for the Auckland Easter, must command respect. Sir Antrim Sst, and Merrivonia 7st lllbs, are a likely pair to run well, and of those lower in the list Kilwinning ana Lady Medallist 7st lllb.Kilindini 7st 81b, Sunbonnet 7st 71b, Ingoda 7st 71b, Kopu 6st lllb, and Aboriginal 6st 71b, read as well treated. In j the railway Handicap the best on recent form —and in the Autumn form is generally a good guide —are Armlet, Salute, Effort, Boanerges, Advantage, Fasnakyle, and Toanga. At the same time Kilindini, Broadsword. Taitoko, Perle d'Or, and Golden Loop are nicely treated, and are good enough to be among those to fight out the finish.
