SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS' CONVENTION.
The tenth convention of the Wellington Sunday School Union, which was held at Masterton during Easter, was concluded yesterday. It had been arrannged by the committee to hold a picnic in the Master ton Park yesterday, an a lining finale to the convention, iiwi owirg to the inclement weatfer it was decided to hold a social -iay in the Methodist Sunday School room iustead, and, although the building was quite small enough to hold such a large gathering, yet a most enjoyable time w»s spent by those present.
On Sunday afternoon Mr R. A. Wright, M.P., of Wellington, delivered a most impressive and instructive address in the Masterton Town Hall to a very large audience of parents and children. During the convention Mr H. N. Holmes, General Secretary of the Wellington Y.M.C.A., delivered a stirring address on "An adequate policy for boys' work," emphasising in his address the necessity for bringing up our boys and girls in a Christian manner. The convention was an undoubted success, and the management are deserving of credit for the splendid manner in which the various arrangements were canied out. The obi'ect of the convention was to promote the work of Sunday Schools and to bring the Sunday School teachers together, in the hope that the former may be brought about. The delegates who were some eighty in number, and who came from many different parts of the Wellington Province expressed themselves as highly pleased with the hospitality shown to them by the members of the Masterton branch of the Union. Some of the delegates returned to their homes yesterday afternoon, and the remainder will leave Masterton this morning.
