RACING. (By "Zetland"). TURF NOTES. TAUHERENIKAU GALLOPS. Judging by, the number of horses now assembled at Tauherenikau the autumn meeting of the Wairarapa Racing Club, which opens to-day, should be a decided success from a racing point of view. The course, lawn, saddling paddock, and general appointments are in pertect condition, and speak well for the manner in which the custodian, Mr Brough, has done his work. The ploughed gallop is in such fine condition that the whole of yesterday's gallops were done thereon, notwithstanding the fact that outside cf the course proper was available. Before it was properly daylight Truganini was sent six furlongs, which she ran in Imin 39sec. The Merriwee mare is in good trim, and as the representative of J„ W. Lowe's Trentham stable will attract the attention of the sporting public to-day. Magneto and Advantage ran half-a-mile in 53sec, and could probably have done better. Bernardine went five fuilongs at a good working pace, and Killaloo took 54aec for four furlongs. Merrie Rose, who has only been in active preparation a few weeks, tan five furlongs in lmin 7sec. and Bally Shannon .was sent once round under a strong pull. Purakau took lmin 24sec to negotiate six furlongs, and Full Rate was only required to do slow work. Merrie Emerald ran five turlongs in good stlye. Succession skipped over half a mile in 53sec, and Longner cantered twice round, and sprinted a couple of furlongs. Hilarian assisted over the last three furlongs by Campaign, ; ran a mile in lmin 48sec. Aberration got over six furlongs in lmin 20 sec. Aimwell and Kiltie Lass broke away from the half-mile post, and the first-named finished in front in 51sec. Sunbonnet, with a lightweight up, registered similar time. Lethean took lmin 20sec for six furlongs, but could have lowered this time, and Aboriginal got over half a mile comfortably in 52Jsec. Overetime, who arrived from Wanganui on Thursday, ran five furlongs in lmin 6sec. Coriquestina sprinted two furlongs fast, and Bow Bells skipped over three furlongs in SSsec. The latter is stylish and gallops very freely First Consul was not out for fast work, his time for five furlongs being lmin 12sec, while Te Koti and Prancer were sent once round, and merely sprinted down the straight. Inspection, a bit en the big side jogged around the plough for two rounds, and was then walked another mile. Liza ran four , furlongs in a little over 51secs, and Longstep and Longwood skipped over two furlongs in 26secs. Waiwareware had the best of a halfmile go with Stepalong run in 53secs, and the Blenheim horses, Curator and Glenspring, did slow work with a furlong sprint to the winning post. Both these candidates are very well. Kelso beat Miss Peaty in a five furlongs gallop in lmin Bsec, and Leahora and Leapuki took lmin 22dt-c for six furlongs. The Somerled a*.u Gold•Re_f geldings ran two furlongs in 26see, and Royal Knight and Fighting Maid put in good working gallops. Penza and Maykoff were yh'en threequarter pace work.
