Mr F. M.. Martin, of the legal firm of Messrs Martin and Atkinson,, returned to Wellington on Thursday.,!-, by the Moana, from Sydney. Dr Champtaloup is an Auck lander by birth. Commencing his medical education in New Zealand, he afterwards went to Edinburgh, where he bus had a distinguished career, securing thedegrees of M.B. and Ch.B, with first class honours. He has also undergone the clinical examination for the M.D. The two years" course of study which gave him his B.Sc. in public health embraced the work for the minor qualification ot D.F.EL He has also a special university certificate in bacteriology and diseases of tropical climates. He was assistant to the professor of Public Health at Edinburgh University, where his duties included those of bacteriologist to the city of Wellington. He is also pathologist and bacteriologist to the *" Chalmers Hospital and lecturer in practical pathology and bacteriology. The Hon. J. A. Millar,. Minister of Railways, left for Sydney by the Manuka on Thursday evening. The object of his tour is to make an investigation of railway management in the Connxowealth under commissioners. Owing to the inability of the»General Manager for Hallways to accompany the Minister on his visit to Australia, Mr K. W. MWilly has Jbeen selected. Mr M'VilJy is an experienced officer, and has a thorough knowledge of the various branches of railway V" management.
