UnitPd Press Association—By Copyright Received March 21, 8.402 a.m. OTTAWA, March 21* Canada is appointing a commercial agent in Germany. Canadian papers report a great influx of commercial travellers from Germany, also thousands of circulars and letters"from German manufacturers.
FRANCE AND AMERICA. mutual Concessions. Received March 21, 8.40 a.m. WASHINGTON, March 20. The United States has given France a twenty par cent, tariff reduction. France concedes a minimum tariff with respect to certain iron and steel commodities, agricultural implements, and other leading goods.
CANADA AND THE STATES, "AS CLOSE] FRIENDS AS POSSIBLE." Received March 22, 12.10 a.m. NEW YORK, March 21. The tariff negotiations at Albany, between Earl Grey, Governor-General of Canadajjand President Taft, have proved useless, no agreement being arrived at.
Cordial speeches were delivered by Earl Grey and Presidont Taft. Mr Taft declared that the people of the Unittd States were slow to realise of wh'at§[potentiality Canada is. "We must be as close friends-as possible."
