RED STAR FOOTBALL CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. Tne annual meeting of the Red Star Football Club was held in the Y.M.C.A. Building on Saturday evening. There was a good attendance of members, and Mr E. Welch presided.
In presenting his annual report the Secretary. Mr T. G. Hoar, said he had to thank members for the cordial support they had given him in endeavouring to make the Club one of tne best in the district. The Club had gone ahead by leaps and bounds, for which every member was entitled to some credit. He again emphasised the importance of obtaining a practice room during the coming season, and also the necessity of securing a coach and an energetic Club captain. The Club should feel proud of the performance put up by the three teams, especially the juniors, and third-class players. The social was a decided success, leaving a credit balance of £5. The Club have to record during the year the passing away of 6ne of the Club's keenest supporters, the late Mr James Welch. His sons were active members of the Club, which desired to express its apprecation of the services rendered by him and his widow, Mrs J. Welch and Miss Ivy Welch, his daughter. The Club is indebted to ; Mr E. Welch for the keen interest l he has taken in its affairs, and also to Mr B. Iveson for his substantial aid. One of our members, Mr B. Iveson, has taken unto himself a partner, and this Club wishes them joy and long liie. "I wish to state," said the Secretary," that I have endeavoured while I have been faecretary of your Club to fill the position with fairness and justice to all members. T have endeavoured to inculcate a spirit ut kindlines to opponents when on the field of play. I have, also, tried to let the public see that a band or society ot youths can live sober and clean lives. This, I am proud to say, the lied Star Football Club have' done while I have held the position of Secretary. The Club it. starting the season with a credit balance of £d 10s lOd." Owing to pressure of business the I Secretary stated he regretted he had to relinquish ( his position. The Chairman and several of the members present spoke in eulogistic terms of the splendid work th'a Secretary, Mr Hoar, had done in the past for the Club, and expresed regret at his not being able again to take up the same duties during the present season.
The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr 5. Welch; President, Mr J. C. Ewingon; VicePresidents, Messrs W. S. Lett, B. Iveson, R. Hunt; Captain, senior, Mr A. Ross; Vice-Captain, Mr K. Welch; General Committee, Messrs N. Hooper, R. McKenzie, K. Welch, J. Wing, A. Ross; Selection Committee, Messrs K. Welch, P. McLachlan and the Captain; Secretary, Mr B. Iveson; Treasurer, Mr T. Hoar; Delegates to the Rugby Union, Messrs R. Ward, A. Ross and N. Hooper.
Mr Norman Chamberlain tendered his resignation as a member of the Club. It was decided to ask Mr Chamberlain to reconsider his resignation.
Seven new members were elected,
* It was decided that the subcription should be the same as last year, namely, seniors ss, juniors 2s 6d. A vote ot thanks was accorded to the outgoing officers. It was decided to procure a practice room for the ensuing season.
