The Naw Zealand Government has decided to render aid to the new British expedition tu the Antarctic regions. When Sir Ernest ahackleton was fitting out his expedition three years ago he received a grant of £I,OOO. Yesterday Cabinet decided to make the same grant to Captain Scott, who is preparing an onslaught on the South Pole next year. As a result of the deputation, which waited on the Premier, some time ago, Cabinet has decided to aid Pro fessor Bickerton, of Christchurcb, to proceed to England and Europe to lay before the scientists there his "partial impact theory." Jt was decided yesterday to subsidise up to £3OO any amount that may b 3 raised by subscription for that purpose. The subsidy will be on the £1 for £1 basis.
