NORTH ISLAND BAND CONTEST.

By^Telegraph —Press Association. WANGANUI March 18. The Band Contest was concluded to-day. The results of the competitions are:—

Bass Trombone—He Idaway, Blenheim, 113 points ; Bremingham, Wanganui Garrison, 112; Boyd, Wanganui Garrison, 110. Tenor Horn-Hansen, Nelson, 115: Bowes, Wanganui Garrison, -111; Wimsett, Nelson, 105. Double B Flat Basa—Hughes, Nelson Garrison, 116; Lang, Gisborne, 112; Spurdle, Wanganui City, 104. Trombone Trio3—Wanganui'Garnson, 119; Blenheim, 118; Petone, 101.

The final test was played in the presence of a large crowd. Wanganui scored 136 and Petone 126, making their totals 386 and 326, Wanganui thus winning the Championship Besaon Shield, which now become their property. In the B grade Nelson and Gisborne tied with 130, Wanganui City next with 116. Nelson therefore won the Shield with a total of 376; Gisborne next with 368 and Wanganui third with*3s2. Others finished as follows :—Blenheim, 341; Wellington Tramway, 334; Manaia, 312; Feilding, 311; Waitara 326, Cambridge 329; Opunake, 286.
