THE MASTERTON HOSPITAL'S SECRETARY.
"The old order changetb, giving place to the new." That of yesterday was the last meeting of the Masterton Hos pital Trustees, whose functions are now merged in those of the Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid tfoard. The occasion was naturally one for reminiscences, and several Trustees spoke of the past. Among other officials a vote of thanks was passed to the secretary, Mr J, C. Boddington, who, in replying, mentioned that he had been connected with the Masterton Rnspltal in one
capacity or another, for the past twenty-nine years. For many years, of course, Mr Boddington wa3 chairman, and hs secretary he has been, also, an exemplary officer—in fact, if Mr Boddington had not been greatly attached to the work of the Hospital he could hardly have succeeded so admirably in the discharge of the multifarious duties that fall to the lot of the secretary. Mr Boddington said at yesterday's meeting that he cared for the Hospital as one might care for a child, and in this remark the secret of his success may be found. Mr Boddington's work has largely been a labour of love, fcr the remuneration paid is utterly disproportionate to the amount of work and the responsibilities involved in the position of secretary. Anyone who has any knowledge at all of how hard Mr Boddington has worked will endorse nur expression of opinion that the vote of thanks passed to him by the Trustees was heartily I deserved.
