STOCK MARKET,
Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Masterton stock sale held yesterday as follows: —An extra heavy yarding of sheep, consisting principally of ewes was submitted. Owing to most of the ewe buyers having filled their requirements for this season we had a difficulty in obtaining prices that have been lately ruling for breeding ewes, and we have to report a fall in prices. Young ewes and wethers, however, met with animated competition and values were fully sustained. In cattle an average yarding consisting principally of useful sorts of steers and bullocks was submitted, and although bidding was not animated still we quitted all lots at full rates before 'the closa of the sale. We quote:—Best two-tooth ewes, 14s 4d, others lis to 12s 6d; four and six-tooth ewes, 12s 6d to 13s 6d; four-year-old ewes, best, 10s 6d to 12s 6d; others 8s 6d to 10s; fullmouth ewes, 10s Id. 10s, 9s 6d. 9s down to 7s;store ewes, ot which there was an extra heavy yarding, 5s to 6s 8d; cull ewes, 2s 6d to 4s Id; two-tooth wethers, 12s to 12s 8d; mixed ewes and wethers 9s 4d to 10s lOd; black face lambs 7s Id; medium lambs, 4s 7d to 5s 6d; cull lambs, 2s Id to 3s lOd; Southdown rams, 2gns; Lincoln rams, 2gns. Cattle: Fat and forward heifer?, £4; store heilers, £2 5s to £2 15s; fat and forward cjws, £3 Is to £3 ss; springing enws, £3 Is; store cows, £1 to £1 15s; gown hullocKs, £5 10s to £6 10s; two and a-half-year steers, £4 to £4 18s; two year-old steers, £3 13s to £3 19s. Pigs: Weaners, 6s to 6s 6d.
