THAT £5,000 VOTE.

To the Editor. Sir, —On reading your report of last night's Borough Council meeting, I looked in vain fur any mention made by the Mayor or Council ors of convening a meeting of the ratepayers for the purpose of requesting the Government to proceed with the erection of the new Courthouse, for which a' sum of £5,000 was placed on the Estimates last session. lam informed that if the residents of Masterton do not bestir themselves, the vote for the £5,000 will lapse. If that is correct, J thinK his Worship the M«\yor should take immediate action to convene a public meeting, so as to have resolutions passed, and hand the same to the' Minister of Justice, per our member, Mr Hogg. —I am, etc., RATEPAYER. Masterton, March 16, 1910.
