CARTERTON NEWS.
(Own Correspondent.) Monday. Heavy rain, accompanied by a strong wind, fell here to-day. Messrs F. Court, of Waihakeke, and R. Tilsori, of Ponatahi, have grown a considerable quantity of i wheat this season. In connection with the singles tournament of the local Bowling Club, Messrs Neilson and Pink are leading. The former baa finished all his games, having won seven and lost three. The latter has seven wins, two losses, and one game to play. Should he win, he secures the trophy or should he be defeated, will play off with Mr Neilson for first place. The harvest festival services of the Methodist Church were celebrated yesterday, the building being appropriately decorated. Mr G. W. Pittendreigh preached in the morning, and the Rev. W. J. Elliott in the evening, there being a good congregation on each occasion. Special hymns were contributed by the choir and orchestra.
