NORTH ISLAND BRASS BAND CONTEST.

The North Island Brass Band Association's thirteenth annual contest was commenced this evening, when the E-flat soprano cornet and B-flht baritone solos were played The soprano solo wa3 won by Mr John Trussell, of the Wanganui Garrison Band, with Bandsman Wilkinson, of Gisborne City, second, and Bandsman Watson, of Maviaia Municipal Band, third. There were ten competitors. The baritone was won by Bandsman # George Jensen, of Wanganui Garrison, and Bandsman J. Coßgrove, of Gisborne City, second, and Bandsman Thomas Cole, of Nelson Garrion, third. There were seven competitors. The weather was very wet. The B-flat and E-flat bass sobs will be ta'<en in the morning, and a garden party held in the afternoon, and the B-flat cornet solos in the evening.
