AMUSEMENTS.
THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.
A large number of people bravad the elements last night to witness the change of programme submitted at the Foresters' Hall, and they, were rewarded by seeing a first-class show. "Muggin's V.C." is a story of a simple country youth who enlists and in due times goes to the front. His deeds of heroism win for him the coyeted Victoria Cross. The audience iollowed his career closely, and there was great cheering when he rescued his officer against tremendous odds. "The Diver's Remorse" is a fine spectacular drama, which met with well merited applause. "The Mended Lute" is one of the Biograph Company's Indian series, and is very exciting, esp3cially the great canoe chase. Among other pictures deserving mention are:—"Lord Kitchener at Liverpool," "The Prisoner's Strategy," and "Old Rouen." The "comics" are wall up to standard, and as usual great laughter prevailed. The programme will be repeated this evening. "
