THE SUBJECT OF A HOSTILE DEMONSTRATION. LONDON, March 13. * James Patten, the well-known American speculator, was the subject of a hostile demonstration at the Manchester Royal Exchange,the mem bers jostling him and shaking their fists in his face. They compelled the Cotton King to take refuge in a neighbouring office, from whence, with the assistance of a strong police guard, he escaped by the fire exit. He immediately entrained for Liverpool, where he was sympathetically received. He will sail for America to-day.
