(Own Correspondent.) Friday. A young fellow named Smith, in the employ of Mr W. J. Berriil, Butter box manufacturer, had the misfortune to sustain an injury to the fingers of his left hand this afternoon through their coming in contact j with a rip saw. The accident will j prevent him from following his employment for a few days. Mr A. Peden, was, at a meeting of the vestry last evening, appointed collector for the parish of St. Mark's. The February results of the Dalefield Cow Testing Association shows that herd No. 20 made the highest average for the month, the milk being 8561b5, test 4.14; butter fat 35.44b5. No. 14 was second, Bi23lt>s milk, 4.06 test, 3.401bs butter fat. Herd No. 11 was third with 8251bs of milk, 4.02 test, and 33.1 Slb3 butter fat. The best individual c. w belonged to herd No. 20, yielding 1,0361bs ot 5.6 test miJk, and a total butter fat of 58.02. The second best was in herd No. 13, yielding J,2531bs milk, 4.4. test, and total butter- fat of 55.131bs butter fat. As no tenders within the reserve for an appropriation of £3OO of the Wairarapa Terminating Building; Society were received last evening, a ballot was held, the successful shareholder being Mr G. W. Cobb, of Martinbo rough. Saturday; At the local railway station last evening, a young .lady, who had just arrived by the train, and who apparently was unacquainted with the surroundings of the station, received an unexpected fall. She took the left hand side to gain access to Broadway, and owing to the darkness did not observe that the platform was some four feet high, and overstepped, and fell to the ground. The young lady was considerably shaken by the fall, and it is marvellous how she escaped free from broken limbs. At the Carterton Railway Station, this morning, the assistance of the police were requisitioned to take into custody a man who was deemed too intoxicated to travel. His next appearance will be in the Police Court on Monday. The dairy factories around this district to-day sent away large consignments of cheese to the Home market in all about ten trucks. Mr A. Johnson, of Waipukurau, who on Monday takes up the duties of clerk at the local railway station arrived here thi3 afternoon. Mr R. Ames leaves for Waipukurau on Monday. Miss Morton, who has been appointed a teacher at the local High School, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Miss Scott, which takes effect next month. A poster dance is to be held at Clareville on March 17th. A very enjoyable social, under the am pices of the Ahiaruhe Sports Club, was held at Parkvale last evening, the attendance being good. Messrs 15. Hall (cornet), R. Crawley (piano) and Miss Mansfield (violin) ware the tiiUfaicians, and Misses Dates, Boyd iiinl Mr H. A. Bunny played extras. Messrs H. Burch, D. Jensen, Jos. iOmlc's, W. Buckeridge and K. Kimble were M's.C.
