Mr Wools-Routedge, speaking at the Methodist Conference, and referring to New Zealand's proposed seccession, said that in all probability, seeing that a large majority in the Dominion favoured the move, the General Conference would consent to separation. CONGO TREASURY RUBBED. Received March 6, 5 p.m. BRUSSELS. March 5. The Princess Louise declares that if her father disposed of property belonging to Belgium for the benefit of a third party she wi'-l make no claim. She hoped the Governmer t would inform herself and her sisters of the proptrty to which the State's right is not established and to wl ich they are, therefore, entitled to succeed. Mr Vandervelde, during an interperation in the Chamber cf Deputies, statt d that it had now been found that King Leopold invested £2,800,000 in companies, directed by men of straw, including £1,000,000 in Congo bonds. The money was tainted with blood, and ought to revert to Belgium to eDable them to improve the negroes' lot. Tbe Government admitted King Leopold had deceived them. The Government should uphold the nation's right. Other speakers asserted that £l,200,000 hadfdisapppared from the Congo Treasury, and that books and papers had been destroyed. M. De Woeste paid'a tribute to the Princess' delicate sense offhonour. A resolution from the Left was negatived by 7 0 votes to 66. M. De Woeste moved a motion of confidence in the Government, and it was adoDted.
