AMUSEMENTS.

MR HARRY RICKARDS' VAUDEVILLE COMPANY. Mr Rickards' one nights' season of vaudeville, commencing on Monday evening at the Town Hall, promises to opan most auspiciously. The sale of reserved seats at Miss Rive's—where the box plan opened this morning is very satisfactory, and there is every indicat on of a large attendance on the opening night. According to reports the act of the three sisters Trapnell, assisted by their brother George, is one ot the most entertaining and interesting everwitnessed in the Dominion. These ladies are world-renowned acrobats and tumblers, and their feats, said to be amazingly clever, have been received with the greatest enthusiasm in Australia. The brother supplies the comic element in addition to being an experc tumbler and acrobat. The sisters are unusually fine and attractivo women, and the turn throughout is remarkable for its grace, refinement and artistic merit. It is impossible to dtscribe in detail all the clever things thac are executed with incredible agility, but perhaps the feat thac has created the greatest furore in Australia is when two of the sisters are doing the "splits" while the third sister at the same time is executing a similar performance on the heat's of the other two. The beau'iea of the banjo will be shown by ;'.lr Franco Piper, one of the greatest banjo soloists living. In addition to playing selections in a masterly manner, this artist juggles and twi'•ls a large number of banjos while playing the most intricate eomcositions with full orchestral accompaniment. The repertoire of this artist includes selections from the works of Mozart, Schubert, Ros-ini ; Chopin, Wagner, Verdi, Mascagni, and other master, but for his vaudeville entertainment he generally draws from popular pieces. It is stated on most reliable authority that in Miss Julia Gifford we shall welcome one of the most charming lyric vocalists that has visited the Dominion. She will sing on Monday night songs by Reginald de Koven," Arditi and give a presentation of a charming song "1 can't make my eyes believe," made popular in America by the French soprano, Miss Anna Held. Miss Gifford is said to be a very smart dresser, and her diamonds have become the envy of the ladies of Melbourne and Sydeny. Together with her husband, Mr Robert Fitzsimmons, she will appear in an original sketch entitled "Man's a man for a" that," and Mr Fitszimmons will lecture on the films of the famous Fitz-simmons-Lang fight. Other artists to appear with the company are Messrs Fred. Bluett, Vaude and Verne, and the Wheelers.

BLACK FAMILY CONCERT. A great musical treat is promised for to-morrow (Sunday) night, when those favourite artists, the Musical All Blacks (Black Family), assisted by H. Carroll and H. Spencer, will give a sacred concert of sacred and classical music in the Town Hall, commencing at 8.30 p.m. Mr John Black informs us that he will submit a choice programme nf vocal solo and duets, violin solos and duet&, flute and clarinet, flute and cello duets, cornet solos, mandolin«,jcmartettes, and orchestral selections. The same programme which he gave in the Town Hall, Wellington, last Sunday, before;an audience which packed that vast building. All children and adults are requested to contribute a silver coin downstairs, and patrons to the circle one shilling.

THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES,

The fine programme presented by Messrs Thompson and Payne at the Foresters' Hal!, drew a large audience last night. The fortunes of the hero and bis discontented wife, represented in "Fools of Fate,-' were followed closely, and the dramatic ciimax was the signal for loud ap' plause. The animated photography sh'iwn in this picture is decidedly the b:st vet produced. "The Fisherman's Elate" is another pictorial drama that d serves mention, the sensational dive of the tierome from the cliff into tne breakers being, indeed, thrilling. The exceeedingly funny picture "Hypnotic Suggestion," is enough to make the proverbial cat laugh, and any person who can see this picture without laughing is certainly "beyond redemption." This programme will be shown for the last time to-night, being replaced by a fresh series on Monday.
