THE CONQUEST OF THE AIR.
Dirigible airship companies are moving fast in Germany. A Parseval airship was ordered last January by the Munich Aeronautical Company for 275,000 marKs t :and an advance payment of 100,000 marks was malde. The share capital pf the newly founded Munich company is to be increased to 400,000 marks. , ftegular aerial tours are to be commenced immediately after the delivery of the airship, which is expected to take place on May Ist, 1910. An airship statich, to which flights will be made from Munich, will be built in the Upper Bavarian tourists' territory on the Walchen Lake, near the Katzenkops Hills. The Rheinische Lu ft sc h i ffbau-Aktiengesellschaft Zorn and Hense is the name of another aeronautical concern which was founded this month for the purpose of building and selling motor-driven airships acccording to the system of Herr Zorn, and for establishing airship lines. This company has been founded with a capital of 2,000,000 marks, 800,000 of which have been subscribed. . The Municipality of Grafrath, near Crefeld, has placed about 68 acres of ground at the disposal of this company. Zorn airships consist of three parts, of which each can be used by, itself if necessary, each part being equipped with its own engine, car, and steering-gear. Major von Parseval, the inventor of the above-mentioned Parseval airstrips, has accepted a nomination as .unsalaried lecturer on dirigible airships at the Charlottenburg High School. He has already given one lecture before the teaching staff. The general lectures on this subject are tc commence this year.
