SENSATIONAL TRIAL.

U.S. senator charged with RECEIVING A BRIBE. Received February 28, 9 a.m. NEW YORK. February 27. A sensational trial is proceeding. Mr Allds, a leadine Republican of New York State, and a Senator, is accused of receiving a bribe in 1901, from Senator Conger, of the American Bridge Company. It is affirmed that Bills regulating trams, telephones and railways, are frequently introduced for blackmailing purposes, and that Mr Conger's companies maintain special corruption funds. The accusation against Allds was due to the Bridge Bill being finally enacted. Frank Conger, the Senator's brother, is said to have paid £1,200 to Allds and other legislators.
