(Own Correspondent.) Saturday. I The County Council staff, who are putting a groin in at the head of the waterworks received word this afternoon that, as a result of the rain, operations will not be able to be resumed until Wednesday. At the auction mart this afternoon, Mr V. L. Fairbrother submitted to auction the goodwill of the lease of 210 acres 1 rood, being section 9, Block V., Tawaha, Martinborough No bids were received under the ham mer, but an offer by telegram of £4OO was declined, as it was a good deal below the reserve. The School Cadets and Boy Scouts, who have been attending the Kitchener camp, returned to their homes this afternoon. Although the rain made matters somewhat unpleasant, the lads stato that they had a good time, and had nothing to complain of, beyond the weather. A meeting of tradespeople is to be held here on Tuesday evening, to discuss matters of interest to business people.
