ANOTHER DEVELOPMENT ENGINE-DRIVERS AND FIREMEN. AN APPLICATION TO WAGES BOARD. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright. SYDNEY, February 26. Still another development has occurred in connection with the Newcastle strike. Th secretary of the Federated En-gine-drivers' and Firemen's Association applied to the Wages Board tb | be allowed to intervene in the proceedings, in order that members of his organisation should not be made the subjects of discrimination when the question of re-engaging hands for the mines was being conaidered. Judge Scholes, President of the Board, in refusing the application, said that the petitioner must go to the Industrial Court and ask for the appuintment of a special board. It is understood that the application was founded "on the belief that the present attitude of the owners in refusing to take back all old employees is aimed at the Enginedrivers' Association.
