CARTERTON NEWS.
(Own Correspondent. \ Friday. At a meeting of the Rechabite Lodge, last evening, it was announced by Bro. R. H. Taylor that the district officers had met in Wellington this week, and amongst the business transacted was an insurance scheme, whereby members will have the option of an additional £lO, payable as a death levy. The scheme is on a sound financial basis, and is obtainable without levies. Mr and Mrs C. L. N. Petersen, the well-known musicians, gave an "At Home" in St. Mark's Schoolroom, yesterday afternoon, when the
presentation of certificates took place. Mr B. Wadham left this morning on a trip to Melbourne, to be present at the Avondale Stud Farm sale. It is Mr Wadham's intention to bingr back a trotti.ig horse with him. Much neede 1 rain commenced falling here this morning, and will do a great deal of good. A fair muster of volunteers paraded at the Drill Hall, this evening, and later entrained for the Johnsonville Camp. Captain Skey was in command. The tennis match between Carterton and Clareville, played on the Bowling Green Courts, yesterday afternoon, ended in favour of the Carterton team by 86 .points on the aggregate.
