MASTERTON STOCK SALE RE- ] PORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report. At our fortnightly sale yesterday, we had a very heavy yarding, the yards being taxed to their utmost. Breeding ewes made up the bulk of the catalogue, and were mostly of the aged sorts, all of which found a market'at rates fairly low, vendors realising the low market for old sheep. In two-tooth we offered several lots, these being small. In wethers the lots were on the small side. In lambs we had a good offering of all classes, and every pen sold freely at good sound rates. We offered several lots of rams of various breeds and '.quitted, all of the best sorts. The cattle entries were confined to cows, heifers and calves, all of which changed hafcds. In breeding ewes sound sorts ranged from Ss to 10s 6d, medium 5s to 78 6d, culls 3s to 4s 6d; two-tooth ewee, small, 9s to 30s; 2-tooth wethers, 10s 3d; best rape lambs, 6s lid to 7s; stores, 5s to 6s; culls, 3s to 4s 6s; Lincoln rams, 1 to 2gns; Romneys, i to 2gns; forward cows, 56s to 60s; dairy heifer in calf, 70s; sound heifers, 425; yearlings, 365; calves, 10s to 15s. y

Messrs Daigety a'nd Co., Ltd., re- j port having held their usual fortnightly sale at their Waipoua yards yesterday. Sheep came in considerably over advertised numbers. There was a good .attendance of farmers and graziers and we were successful in quitting all our sheep, with the exception of a small line of wethers. As is usual at ithis time of the year a great number of aged ewes are coming forward ior sale, and our yarding yesterday comprised a fair number of such sheep. Dun ig the past few weeks sellers' reserves on such aged ewes were too high to permit of much ii'isiness passing, but yesterday bujytftio and sellers were more in accord, and all lines offered/ changed hands at fair rates. For some time to come we anticipate that a fair number of old ewes «Jll be on the market, and it would facilitate business if sellers, who have to dispose of such sheep., would not hamper the auctioneers with big reserves. For aged ewes with fair mouths, fit for rape feediDg, there are plenty of buyers, and vre think sellers would do well to accept prices at present ruling. The demand for lambs of all classes was good, al-

though prices were a shade easier. Wethers were also enquired for, but no first-class lines were yarded. We quote as follows:—Aged ewes, fair mouths, from 6s 3d to 7s yd; inferior, from 3s Id tc 5s 6d; soundmuuth breeding ewes, from 8a 6d to 8s 8d; 4 ar.d 6-tooth ewes, 12s Sd: two-tooth ewes, small, 10s 9d. Lambs: Good woolly from 8a to 8s 6d; shorn lambs, good, 6slodto7s2d; fair shorn lambs, 4s 3d to 5s sd; inferior, 2s (5d to 3s Id. Wethers: Twotooths, fair, 10s 4d; small, 8s 3d; a good line of two-tooth wethers sold at lis 7d Fat ewes: 10s lid. We had a fair number of rams in for sale, and anything good offering made full market rates. Cattle: The yarding was small. We quote :- Empty store cows, £2 15s to £2 17s 6d.
