PRESENTATIONS
A pleasant function took place last evening, when the v members of the Ked Star Football Club met and made a presentation to Mr B. Iveson, Vice-President, who is to be married to-day. Mr E, Welch, President of the Club, m handing Mr Iveson a handsome dinner service, stated that Mr Iveson had been one of the founders of the Club, and one of its. most enthusiastic members. It was largely due to his efforts that the Club was on such a good sound footing, and the Red Stars would continue to be a pro<» minent Club so long as it possessed such hard-working members. On behalf of the Club he wished Mr Iveson and his bride-elect happiness and prosperity in their future life. Mr Iveson, in thanking the Club for its handsome gift, remarked on the excellent feeling of comradeship that existed between the members, and to this feeling was due the success of the Club, Ever since the Stars had been first formed away back in 1885 the name of Welch had been closely identified with it, and to-day its President was a Welch, who was a keen enthusiast, a hard worker in its interest and a thorough "sport." Some of the best players in the Club also belonged to the Welch family. (Applause). The present would always recall to him the many pleasant hours he had spent in the company of the members of the Red Star Football Club.
Subsequently the Ramblers Ladies' Hockey Club presented Mr Iveson wiuj a beautiful silver teapot. Mr A. C. Pragnell made the presentation, and in a neat speech referred to the valuable services Mr Iveaon had rendered to the Ramblers and to the ladies' clubs in general in the Wairarapa. Mr Iveson suitably acknowledged the gift, and referred eulogistically to the conduct of the Ramblers on and off the field. Wairarapa hockey, said Mr Iveson, was fortunate in having such a keen supporter as Mr Pragnell, who had assisted ttie ladies' clubs in no small way by his abls advice.
