THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES
The usual bi-weekly change of. programme will take place at the ! Foresters' Hall, this evening, when | another first-class collection of films will be presented The event of Lord Kitchener has created a mild sensation throughout New Zealand, and his movements are closely watched by all. To-night patrons will have the pleasuie of witnessing a cinematographic representation of K'h arrival and reception. "The Airship Destroyer" should prove an exciting film. "Leather-stocking, the Last of the Mohicar.s," is another of these fine Indian series that have become so popular with Thompson-Payne pudiences. Among tbe industrial subjects will be "C'ock Making," this should prove very interesting. A film that is highly spoken of by contemporaries is entitled "The Slave," being of a high dramatic order. Included in the comic part of the programme will be "The Adventures of Fifine," "Circumstantial Evidence," "Sack Race,'" and "Mr Jones' Burglar."
ANDREW BLACK CONCERTS. The visits of distinguished artists to Masterton aie comparatively rare, and correspondini ly valuable. They give pleasure to the cultured musicians amongst us, and are undoubtedly likely to improve the immature student, thus arousing emulaton which should be of much value, and benefit to the community It is therefore profitable to encourage regular visits from the great people of the musical world, and when the Andrew Black concert takes place on Saturday night next, it is to be hoped that performers will be greeted with a more than usually good house. Amongst the singers of England today Andrew Bla:k ranks high as an oratoria and operatic exponent, and his rendering of English,, Irish and Scotch ballads*, has always won a warm welcome from the hearts of the people Mr Black's concert party.also include" He*r Anton Tschaikov, the young Russian violinist, Miss Lilian i Delany, pianiste and ;accompaniste, I and Mias Iley Cross, contralto.
