Y.M.C.A.
SWIMMING CARNIVAL,
This afternoon the i.jm.vj.A. swimming sports will take placs at the Dixon Street Baths, commencing at 2.50 o'clock, and a genuine treat is promised to those patronising the carnival. For the amusement of young and old some very comical events have been itemised, and no doubt will cause considerable merriment. These items consist of a comic clothes race, greasy barrel], obstacle race, pillow fight, mock parachute descent, water pole, a boat farce and other comicalities. Good entries have been received for the swimming events, and keen interest is being evinced in swimming circles in the result of the 52 Yards Open Handicap, and the Relay Race. Over thirty competitors will compete, including the crack swimmers of this town, and entrants from Eketahuna and Featherston. A very modest charge is being made for admission, and as the object of the carnival is to help swell the funds of a worthy object, it is to be hopped* that the sports this afternoon will be witnessed by a large gathering.
