MASTERTON RACING CLUB.

The monthly meeting of the Masterton Racing Club was held on Saturday afternoon. There were present —Messrs C. F. Vallance (chairman), D. Caselberg, D. Donald, Jas. Macara. W. Cooper, A. G. Pilmer, C. A. Pownall, F. Dorset, D. Mc Lachlan, J. lorns, 0. C. Cooper, and W. PJatt. * . The treasurer's report was as follows: —Racing Club account, dr., £294 6s Id; totalisator account, cr., £23 3s sd; balance, £262 2s Bd. Mr W. H. Wanklyn, secretary of the Racing Conference, wrote informing the Club that no medical expenses for accidents would be allowed when the case was within reasonable distance of a public hospital. Mr E. Collerton wrote applying for a gentleman riders' certificate. It was decided to recommend that the application, be granted. T. McCann applied for a trainers'

license. • j After discussion the application j was held over The secretary of th« Racing Conference wrote in connection with the registration of colours for Messrs R. Buick and H. .Nee. Mr Wanklyn also forwarded a copy of the new Racing Act. On the motion of Mr Macara, seconded by Mr Pilmer, the secretary was instructed to write to the Minister for Internal Affairs asking that the provisions of the new Racing Act be not made to apply to the coming! meeting of the Club, their programme having been drafted before the Bill was passed, and also that Messrs Hogg and Buchanan, M's.P., be asked to support the letter. It was resolved that the secretary be instructed to take proceedings against two defaulters if the money owing was not paid to the Club at once. On the motion of Mr Pownall, it was decided that the totalisator officials be instructed to close the totalisator during the meeting only ' on the instruction of the Totalisator 1 Steward.
