LORD KITCHENER.
DEPARTURE FOR NEW ZEALAND. Received February 13, 5 p.m. MELBOURNE, February 13. Viscount Kitchener, on board the Encounter, departed for New Zealand, last night. A large gathering farewelled the Field-Marshal. Lord Kitchener, in a farewell speech, expressed gratification at the hospitality of the Australians, and hoped that his recommendations would be found acceptable, and suitable, and that the Commonwealth Government woul 3 do something towards the improvement of the defences of Australia. His Lordship persentd ethe representatives of the senior cadet forces of the various States with the Colours worked by Lady Dudley, wife of the Governor- j General of Australia. I
