WEDDING.

VEKRY-CROOKE. j A quiet but pretty wedding was j celebrated on Thursday afternoon, -at , the residence of Mr C. Beattie, of '

Clareville, the bride being Miss Elizabeth J- Crooke (Lizzie), daughter of Mrs C. Beattie, and the bridegroom Mr Louis J. Verry, of Palmerston North. The Rev. C. E. Porter was the officiating Minister. The bride, who was given away by her stepfather, Mr C. Beattie, was attired in cream lustre with lace tri minings and veil and orange blossoms. She was attended by Miss C. Vtrry, sister of the bridegroom, as bridesmaid, who was dressed in white lawn with embruidery trimmings. Both carried shower bouquets, the gift of I Mrs 'Wilkinson, of Palmerston North, aunt of the bridegroom. Mr R. Verry, of Auckland, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Mr and Mrs L. J. Verry left by the afternoon train for the South, the bride's travelling dress being a neat grey tweed costume with brown hat. Amongst the many valuable presents received were a silver hot water jug and jam dish from the Broad Street (Palmerston North) Methodist Sunday School and Christian Endeavour Society, of which the bride was formerly a member. Also a silver cake dish and three silver vases from the members of the Kiwitea County Council, of which Council Mr Verry is the clerk.
