PAHIATUA-AKITIO A. AND P. SHOW.
THE INAUGURAL GATHERING
AN IMMENSE SUCCESS,
The Agricultural and Pastoral portion of the above Show was held on the Pahiatua Racecourse to day. The weather was ideal and the attendance was very large. The entries for the horses and competitions, which numbered 346,.a record for any one day's Shoiv in the Dominion, were of good quality, and the judges, Messrs Pilmer, J. Maaara and'W. McKenzie, all stated that the entries were quite up to Show standard. In cattle Mr Lancaster thought this section was a very fair 3bt, and that the Jerseys were good. Sheep entries were limited, but the same gentleman spoke well.of the fats exhibited. The well-known jumper "Pickpocket" again scored in the big steeplechase leaping event. The committee had to work hard to get through their numerous', duties, and are certainly to be congratulated on their efforts both to-day and during the past few weeks,, while the secretary, Mr J. Walsh,, with his assistant, Mr W. Eccleton,. were indefatigable in their efforts to promote success.
