This matter was left in the hands of Cr Morris and the Engineer to deal^with. From Mr J. B. Rankine, Inspector of Rabbits, calling on the Council to destroy rabbits on the proDerty known as the Gravel Reserve at Te RangitumaUe Resolved that the County Engineer be instructed to take steps to destroy rabbits on the reserve. From George Benton, complaining of the methods adopted by the Ranger in carrying out his duties. The letter was referred to the Engineer to make enquiries and report to the Council. From the secretary of the Discharged Prisoners' Aid Society, soliciting pecuniary assistance. Resolved that the Council cannot see its way to grant assistance. From the Deputy Public Trustee, notifying the appointment of the Public Trustee as Sinking Fund Commissioner in connection with the Opaki Water Supply loan, and the Lansdowne Water Supply loan had been consented to.— Received. The Commissioner of Crown Lands forwarded a lithograph showing section 1, blocK 11., Puketoi.—Received. The Treasury wrote advising the remittance of £2,100 second advance on account of Weraiti-Fernyhurst Road loan. The Public Works Department notified that authorities for Government grants were being prepared, and will be issued shortly. FINANCE COMMITTEE. . The Finance Committee reported as under:—General account, dr., £3,405 19s; Local Bodies Loans account, cr., £933; dr. balance, £2,636 lis lOd. Accounts totalling ment. It was resolved: That the clerk be directed to furnish each Council lor with a list of the balance of grants which it is proposed by the Public Works Department to hand over to the Coiincil for expenditure with a view to formulating proposals for expending the same; that the Engineer be authorised to expend the amount available from thirds on sections 1 and 5, Block XI., Miki Miki, in the anner suggested by Mr Aug. Johnson; tbat the use of the Taueru Ferry Reserve be placed at the disposal of the Taueru school children for the grazing of their horses, free of charge. The report was adopted. j

The report was read and adopted. * It was resolved that the bridge over the Taueru at Wingates be painted; that the Engineer be instituted to have the metal blinded on the Wungaehu Road, where necessary; that Urs Beetham, Morris and the Engineer be appointed to meet Mr Mcßae re purchase of gravel pit; that the Engineer be instructed to turn the water from Mr Everetf's cutting along Mr Huick's fence.
