CARTERTON NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tuesday. In St. Mark's Church, this afternoon, Mr B. Trapp was united in the holy bonds of wedlock, to Miss Wolters, daughter of Mr 11. H. Wolters, of this town. The happy event was solemnised by the Rev. R. Young, in the presence of a number of friends of the young couple, and they were entertained later at the residence of Mr and Mrs H. H. Wolters. Yesterday afternoon a son of Mr A. Peter?, of Waihakeke, bad a nasty gash inflicted between one of his toes and the ball uf the foot, through it coming in contact with an axe blade. He was trimming willows standing ir a buat, when he overbalanced and the boat capsized. In swimming out he met with the above accident. Mr James Baillie, chemist, attended to the injuries. In connection with the guessing compettion at the Catholic Bazaar, ] th ree—A. Rayner, A. F. Quinn and | C. Bishop—guessed the exact weight of the sheep, viz., 1091bs, the ballot being won by A. F. Quinn. Last evtnig the teachers of St. Mark's Sunday School assembled at the Vicarage, and presented Miss Toomath vti\h an Oxford bound copy of Burns' poems as a token of esteem on the occasion of her departure for Gisborne with her parents. The gift was suitably acknowledged. This afternoon at St. Mark's Church, Miss Ellen Lawrence, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Lawrence, of Carterton, was married to Mr G. Arcus, son of Mr T. S. Arcus, of Dalefield. Misses A. Arcus, O. Hodder and L. Lawence were bridesmaidH, and Mr J. Gayfer was best man. The Rev R. Young was the officiating minister, and a reception was held at Victoria Hall.
