The Right Hon. D. Lloyd-George, Chancellor of the Exchequer, and Mr C. F. G. Masterman, Under-Secre-tary for tiie Home Office, who have been staying at Nice, in the South of France, have had an interview with Mr Asquith at Cannes. Mr Lloyd-George's presence in the Riviera has aroused much comment. Unionists interpret it a3 an effort of the Radical extremists to influence the Prime Minister's decision as to the policy to be adopted regarding the House of Lords

Mr W O'Brien, Independent Nationalist Member for North-east Cork, states that he has re-entered politics because the campaign of vengeance against twenty of his friends took the form of packing the convention for the selection of candidates with delegates from specially manufactured branches of the United Irish League. He was willing, Mr O'Brien continued, for a round-table conference i to adjust differences, on condition that J the Molly Maguires are removed from J the mastery of the National funds.
WARNING TO CATHOLIC MEMBERS. Received February 8, 8.40 a.m. LONDON, February 7.. The Kight Rev. Ldward O'Dwyer, Roman Catholic Bishop of Limerick, in a Pastoral letter countermands any alliance of Irish Catholic members of the House of Commons with the English parties, because many English politicians were avowed atheists or Socialists, especially in their views on the education question.
