BOWLING.

A PLEASANT GATHERING,

A mitch of considerable interest amongst local bowlers took place od tha Club's green yesterday afternoon. Two teams were selected by an enthusiastic bowler, who generally prolongs' the garpe by making "dead heads," and he named his teams the "Invincibles." The opposing teams were selected by a well-known bowler who was prepared to cover any Visks arising from injuries that might be received through the "drives" of his co selector, and he christened his teams the "Unconquerables." It was decided that the match should be decided on the aggregate number of points, and the losers were to entertain the winners at supper. At the 13th head the "Invincibles' were leading by four points, and a heavy shower then caused all the players to seek shelter under the pavilion. On resuming play the "Unconquerables"'laid so many of their bowls round the jack that all the united efforts of the "Invincibles" failed to dislodge them, and the match ended in a win for the "Unconquerables" by nine points. During the evening the teams had supper together at the Arcadia Tea Rooms, when several toasts were given and responded to, and one and all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The scores lti the match were: —"Invincibles": J. Hunter, J. Blinkhorne, J. Whittaker, J. Scott (skip), 21; A. Chapman, S. Inrfer, J. C. Ewiugton. J. Cochrane (skip), 11.—Total. 32. "Unconquerables': F. Fowler, A. Haughey, 0. Pragnell, Reed (skip), 17; G. Townsend, E. Rose, F. Dupre, C. Perry (skip), 24.-—Total, 41.
