(From Our Resident Reporter). Thursday. The Methodist Choir, assisted by friends, has the cantata "Rolling Season" in hand, and will render it at the latter end of this month. The Hawke's Bay Dairy Company's butter factory is now turning out 78 boxes of butter daily. In the height of the season 91 boxes was the highest'tally manufactured. The tests at the*faciory are running from 3.5 to 4.Z, averaging about 3.8. About 3,5001bs of butter are made weekly into one pound pats for New Zealand consumption, the bulk it which is put up in boxes ot 561bs each, being consigned Home. A gentleman of this town received a cutting from a Home paper to-day, stating that recently in the town of Bradford, snow twelve inches in depth fell in one nignt, and for clearing two days' snow the City Council werp put to an [
expense of £I,BOO, over 8,000 loads of snow having to be removed. The cricket match between Pahiatua and Mangatainoka was played on the latter ground. The local team went to the wickets first, and compiled the respectable score of 108, Crawford playing a patient innings for 45, as also did P. Britland for 17. Pahiatua went to the wickets, hoping to make a fair stand, but the tricky bowling of Davin was too much, this trundlei taking seven wickets for 15 runs, while Crawford, who was evidently in great form, made to brilliant catches. W. J. Collins was the only man to reach double figures. A return match will be played at Pahiatua at an early date. Following are the scores: —Mangatainoka—F. Britland, b McLeod, 17; T. A garden party to welcome Bishop Averill will be held at the Woodville Vicarage to-morrow. TheBishop will conduct service in Holy Trinity Church, Woodville, both miming and evening on Sunday next. The Boy Scouts hel 1 a successful signal practise yesterday, and while busy at work, received a visit from the District Commander, Mr A. H. Herbert, of Eketahuna. and Mr Hari ri?, Scoutmaster of the Eketahuna B >y Scouts. The District Commander expressed himself well pleased with the signal practise, and complimented the boys on the efficiency they had attained. .Another patrol has been formed, making three, for the local Scoutmaster, Mr A. H. Dallaston, to look after.
