WAIRARAPA MINERAL PROSPECTING COMPANY, LTD.

A representative meeting of persons interested in promoting a mineral prospecting company, was held in the office of Mr R. Brown, Masterton, yesterday morning. The attendance numbered about twenty, and Mr C. E. Daniell was voted to the chair. The chairman said the meeting recently held had proceeded to form the company, appoint provisional directors, issue shares, and maKe calls. His opinion was they were empowered to do this by the Chamber of Commerce, but it had been called in question by a member who stated he was under the impression the Committee set up was first to report progress. The chairman said it was necessary fur them to get to work without delay if they wished to get any start this summer with the work of prospecting. Mr W. B. Chennells stated he was present at the Chamber of Commerce meeting, and although at first the committee were instructed to report they were afterwards given power to act, and they had done so. The meeting considered the explanation satisfactory, and proceeded to discuss the prospectus. It was resolved to substitute the word Wairarapa for that of Masterton. in the title of the company, with a view to embracing the whole district.

It was resolved that the company be registered as a limited liability company. The capital of the company to be £I,OOO, divided into one thousand shares of £1 each. That 2s 6d per share be paid on application, 2s 6d on allotment, and calls be made not exceeding one shilling in intervals of not less than one month.

The following were appointed Provisional Directors (subject to their acceptance in respect to the last six named) .-—Messrs C. E. Daniell, D. Donald, W. B. Chennells, J. C. Ewington, J. Hunter, R. Kibblewhite, J. Caselberg, A. Henderson, G. C. Summerell, J Hessey, D. J. Cameron, A. Hathaway, W. H. Cruickshank, and W. C. .Buchanan, M.P.

Mr R. Brown was appointed sec retary at a remuneration to be fixed by the Directors; Mr H. C. L. Robinson the solicitor; and the Bank of New South Wales bankers.

It was resolved that the company j be registered as soon as 250 shares j were subscribed, and that the mem- | bers for Masterton and Wairarapa be j asked to help the company to secure a subsidy from the Government to wards (he cost of prospecting. A lengthy discussion took place as to engaging a first-class mining expert to superintend and advise on the prospecting, and do practical work, or whether parties with less experience should be sent out to different localities to prospect for likely stone, and send it in, the Directors to arrange for assaying. It was finally decided to lay the matter in the hands of the Board of Management. j The members present undertook 10 j canvass for shares, and the secretary | was instructed to supply them with ' application forms.
