SHEARERS' UNION.
A special general meeting of the above was held at the Dominion Hall on Saturday evening, Mr McLeod presiding. There were five nominations for.the positions of delegates to conference, and a ballot resulted in the election of Messrs E. W. A. McLeod and K. Mcßae. The following resolutions were passed and ordered to be sent on for consideration of conference:—(l) That crutcl.wg be paid for at the rate of 5s per hundred or 15s per day and found. (2) That branches be recommeniku u> stock supplies of all shearers' ■requisites. (3) That branches be ncommended to establish labour bureaus in connection with their offices. The matter of Maori representation at conference was discussed at some length, and it was decided to leave the choosing of delegates in the hands of Maori members. The serre-ta-ry was instructed to call meetings at Dannevirke, Hastines, Hunterville and such other places as might be considered desirable for the purpose of ascertaining the wishes of members in regard to conference business. - A finance committee consisting of Messrs E. W. Abbot, A. McLeod and F. McDonald, was appointed to supervise all accounts. Mr Geo. Sellar was appointed auditor. A circular was received from the New Zealand Federated Miners' Union asking for assistance on behalf of the Ne,vcaii)e strikers. It was decided to hold the matter over till next meeting, which was fixed for Saturday next, the sth inst.
