(Frsm Our Own Correspondent.) Wednesday. Swimming baths"£for Carterton is the subject of discussion here at present. The Railway Department hag two aires ol land adjoining Mr JameS Callister's property, where all thu natural conditions are favourable, and it is suggested that the Education Board and Borough Council might possibly get it transferred to them for the purpose of swimming haths. At a special meeting of the Borough Council last evening, Thursday was fixed as the statutory halfholiday for the ensuing year. The monthly meeting of the Borough Council was held last evening, Mr A. Armstrong (Mayor) presiding. It was decided to have two coats of paint put on the Carrington Park gates. It was decided to have notice boards regulating the speed of motors erected at each end of the borpugb. The sanitary inspector reported that no cases of infectious diseases had occurred during the mo:;in. It was resolved to proclaim Wednesday, February 16th, People's Day of the Masterton Show a public holiday. Cr Dudson gave notice of motion to rescind the resolution passed by the Council that all repairs and new connections 10 the gas mains be performed under the supervision of the borough overseer.
