DANNEVIRKE TENNIS TOURNAMENT.
By Telegraph—Press Association. DANNEVIRKE, January 21. Play at the Tennis Tournament, with which is associated the Hawke's Bay Championship, commenced today, 97 games being concluded. Fisher and Prouse (ows 25) were defeated by Hartgill Bros, (receive 15) in the Handicap Doubples, GOBS, after a real good game . Miss Braithwaite (Hastings) was unexpectedly beaten by Miss L. K. Hughes (Pahiatua in the Ladies Championship Singles, 9 —5. Giesen (Dannevirke) defeated Upton (Auckland) in the Cb ampion Singles, 6—3, 2—6, 6—4. To-morrow's pla.y promises to bn very interesting. The weather out look is favourable. Play was stepped for half-an-hour this morning by rain.
