CRICKET.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 20. A special meeting of the Wellington Cricket Association was k held tonight to consider the Council's recent communication asking Wellington to come into the financial pooling scheme in connection with the proposed visit of the Australian team ot cricketers The meeting to-night refused to agree to the pooling, but resolve to offer £l5O for a match with the visitors the Wellington Association taking all profits or bearing any loss. According to the terms of the Council's communication this decision will probauly mean that the proposed tour of the_Australians will be abandoned.
A match between Kohunui and Makairo versus Mangatainoka, will be played on the latter's ground on Saturday afternoon. It is understood that the Pahiatua Club, srre trying to infuse enough energy into their members to play a match on the Recreation Ground on Monday next. It ia to be hoped, writes our correspondent, that the members will roll up in good Jforce, as cricket at Pahiatua for the past month has been absolutely dead.
